Clara Jost is an artist, director, and assembler, born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. She studied editing and directing at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (Lisbon) and holds a master’s degree in Audiovisual Arts from KASK (Ghent, Belgium), which she attended as a scholarship holder at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.<\/p>\n\n
His work starts from everyday objects, exploring their historical, emotional and cultural layers. His works subvert the constant stimulus of the attention economy, offering an opportunity to discover depth in the banal things around us.<\/p>\n\n
His short films have been selected at festivals in Europe, Asia and the Americas, including: Premiers Plans Angers (France), Festival du Nouveau Cin\u00e9ma Montreal (Canada), Lago Film Fest (Italy), ZINEBI (Spain), Alchemy Film and Moving Image (Scotland), Kasseler Dokfest (Germany), Beijing International Short Film Festival (China) and London Short Film Festival (UK). They were also exhibited in spaces such as the Kunsthalle M\u00fcnster (Germany), the Malba Museum (Argentina), the Palace of Arts of Belo Horizonte (Brazil) and the CAM Gulbenkian (Portugal). As an automaker, she collaborated with Teresa Villaverde, Paula Tom\u00e1s Marques, Salom\u00f3n P\u00e9rez and Jo\u00e3o Onofre, among others.<\/p>\n\n
His most recent works include Happiness in a Pot (2024) and Bonjour Eric (2024), the latter currently available on the DaFilms platform. He also participated in two group exhibitions with multidisciplinary pieces: at Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Alfaia (Loul\u00e9, PT) and at Zaratan (Lisbon, PT).<\/p>\n\n
He writes for \u00c0 Pala de Walsh, teaches at the Cinema Cent Ans de Jeunesse project with the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Os Filhos de Lumi\u00e8re (Sintra), at Ar.Co (Lisbon) and at ETIC_Algarve (Faro). He is currently working on his first feature film.<\/p>\n\n
