Professional Photography Course presents the exhibition “Shadows” at Forum Algarve

Creativity takes shape and finds expression in the new exhibition by graduates of the Professional Photography Course at ETIC_Algarve. The photography exhibition “Shadows” will open on 1 May at Forum Algarve and will be open to the public until 15 May.

This exhibition forms part of the ‘Project’ module within the Professional Photography Course, in which students are challenged to develop an original body of work based on a defined concept. For this edition, the chosen theme was ‘Shadows’, explored through a variety of visual and narrative approaches.

An author’s perspective on the concept of ‘Shadows’

Under the guidance of trainer and photojournalist José Carlos Carvalho, whose work has been featured in publications such as Visão magazine, students on the Professional Photography Course were encouraged to interpret the concept in their own personal way.

“Shadows” is a visual reflection on the relationship between reality and its projection, whilst also exploring the contrast between black and white. Each image offers a unique interpretation, in which light ceases to be merely a technical element and becomes a language in its own right.

Throughout the project, the trainees employed a variety of methodologies, combining photographic techniques with creative experimentation. The result is a collection of works that reflect identity, expression and artistic vision.
