MAIA – Mercado de Animação Ibero-Americano (Ibero-American Animation Market) is the first animation market in Portugal and will take place in Loulé on 21, 22 and 23 January 2026. It is an event organised by APPA – Associação Portuguesa de Produtores de Animação (Portuguese Association of Animation Producers) and will bring together producers, distributors, television channels, financiers and artists from across the Ibero-American animation market.

What is MAIA – Ibero-American Animation Market?

MAIA – Ibero-American Animation Market is an event created with the aim of strengthening links between animation professionals, creating new co-production opportunities and establishing Portugal as a meeting point for the Ibero-American animation industry.

This event will primarily be a space for conversation, presenting projects, and creating partnerships.

What will happen during MAIA

The MAIA programme includes masterclasses, debates, New Authors PITCH sessions (short films, series and feature films) and speed-meeting sessions, in an event that promotes networking and the internationalisation of projects.

ETIC_Algarve is joining this first edition of MAIA – Ibero-American Animation Market as an audiovisual partner. During the three days of the event, students from the Technical Courses in Photography, Professional Photography and Film-making, Cinema and TV will be applying the skills they have acquired in class in a real working context.
